Stumbled across this on Craigslist this weekend... I had to drive 2 hours to get it, but picked it up for the paltry sum of $150. It came from a 95 explorer sport 4x4. I popped the top cover off and it looks great. The oil is just a little dark, but no big shavings, and the gears and synchros are shiny and clean.
This is my first 5 speed swap. My plans are:
-Drain and spray it down really good with brake cleaner
-New front and rear seal
-Steel shift rail freeze plugs
-New slave cylinder/bearing assembly
-Refill with Amsoil Synthetic ATF
Are there any other tricks or mods I should do before I bolt it in?
I've already got my pedals converted. Just waiting for the wife to clear the funds for flywheel and clutch. I can't wait.
