My clutch pedal felt stiff on my way home today. I tried pumping it a bit when I got home and noticed it wasn't getting near the floor/stop. Then it locked up pretty good, and I guess I pushed it a little hard...and the fitting for the hydraulic line blew off. And no, not the quick disconnect. The OTHER side, that attaches to the slave.

Anyone ever seen this? It is an LuK clutch kit, about 2 years old with maybe 15 or 20,000 km on it.

Fluid has always been bled and flushed regularly too.

Does your clutch have the concentric internal slave or the external slave with the throwout bearing arm? The older style with the throwout arm have been known to get hung up and hard to operate when the sleeve coming out of the transmission gets dry and needs some lube. That is the sleeve that the throwout bearing slides on, the transmission input shaft goes through the center of it.

That thing-a-ma-jig that the quick connect plugs in to came off? Yikes. That's beyond annoying. Gotta remove the transmission again. UGH!!!

Yes it is the internal style, trans had to come out to replace...thankfully it is a 4 cyl 2WD, had the job done in a morning.

In any case, the problem was that the shuttle inside of the piece that blew off was cocked slightly, so it was jammed inside. The piece itself is crimped around a flared end of a tube coming from the slave, and the crimp basically unfolded from the pressure.

It was an LuK slave, I contacted them about it but it was out of warranty and they had never heard of that happening before.

I imagine I could get it done much quicker the second time. Getting those two top bolts on the trans was so much fun!
