M5OD extension housing bushing 88 Ranger.

The shop manual indicates this bushing can't be serviced and entire extension housing must be replaced. Am I reading this right? If this is not correct, are these bushings available? If this is correct are the extension housings available? Saw one on ebay NOS but wider than the one I have.

I see absolutely no reason why you can't just replace the bushing... maybe they were designed to be that way in 1988 but times have changed and parts are available.
