Will an '88 2wd M50D bolt up to and properly operate when coupled with an '83 2.0? I would like to know before I just tear out both transmissions and try it:icon_confused:

I believe the 2.0 shares the bolt pattern of the 2.3. If somebody can verify that, then you can follow the same conversion instructions. Unfortunately, that's all I know.

I thought I read something about a M50D five speed on a late first gen 2.0 just trying to confirm. Thanks

The 88 on up 4-cyl engines had an M5OD. One off of a 2.3L should bolt to a 2.0 and work properly. But only a 4-cyl trans will work.
