Cool. Good enough for me! I don't have any VG experience (at least that springs to mind), but I had an '01 QX4 with a VQ for a few years. Always impressed me with how well it did, and a friend still owns the vehicle. Last I heard it was around 300k.

I was thinking about doing a k series like a k20 turbo or a 1uz in my ranger also there is a YouTube that goes by the name NIGHTRIDE they are doing a 1uz swap in a Miata so I’m sure that it’ll fit in a ranger;missingteeth;
How would you fit the k series Honda engine? Would it fit perfectly for a rear drive platform?
I wished someone has tried the 1uz swap.

Yes, I'm in the process of buying a couple cars with them in them. And yes thats the SOHC version found in 80s 300zx, hardbody pickups, pathfinders and either maximas or altimas. Some were NA, some supercharged and some turbocharged. Most were 3.0L, pathfinders are 3.3L. Fairly easy to make good power with stock bottom end.
I have also thought about the 3.0l engines Nissan used in their pickup trucks. Was just wondering if it'd fit in a ranger without much modifications.

Google supercharged 1UZFE Ranger there is a write up on a website called engineswapdepot. We had issues with cooling as well as making transmissions survive. After a few C6s and C4s a bell housing adapter for a Th400 solves the issues.

Another problem i think i may encouter is, how does one modify the transmission shift to fit a ranger? On the 1UZ, and other Asian vehicles, the shift level position is not at the steering location, but floor. Asian vehicles that have had their shift level at the exact points where ford has had them, is Nissan quest, of the '90s.

So question now is, can floor (flour) positioned transmission shifter be modified from any vehicle, to fit a ranger or ford kind of steering positioned shifter?

Crossed threads are tight threads.
I have seen and done a few shifter swaps. I swapped in B&M floor shifter in my old bronco many years ago, it came with a universal shift cable. Compared to swapping in a v8 and transmission, this is a relatively minor modification.

There actually is a removable floor plate that you can easily modify or make a whole custom piece easily. Look under the tunnel or pull the carpet back

You don't have to use a sawzall. Jigsaw or angle grinder w/ cutoff wheel are also options.

After doing the floor plate thingy, would the steering shifter positioned at the steering wheel, be left like that?

On my bronco I just left it there. I think eventually I disconnected the shifter rod from the column. It's all just mechanical connections. Very rudimentary compared to engine swap. This was 20 years ago when I was into hot rodding, not sure what's out there in aftermarket today. But you could probably find some cool stuff searching B&M or, Hurst or Lokar.

Mehn, unfortunately, I'm in Lagos. Hot rodding isn't just common over here.
