Lowering the running boards

I just got a 2020 Ranger, love the truck but the running boards are to high for an easy slid in. Has anybody lowered the boards so that it's easier to get in ? I'm not going to be going off road so that's not an issue. Thanks

A member here has a 2020 that they lowered the suspension on for easier access getting things in/out of the back with its stupid high bedsides. Works well for them.

As for your exact question, I'm sure brackets could be made that would lower the running boards. Could be easy to make with basic tools, might need a trip to a local fab shop. Hard to tell without pictures of how they mount to the vehicle.

The factory running boards mount to the floor of the cab, not the frame. The running board brackets would basically need to be cut, a piece spliced in, and then re-welded.

I'd be leary of doing that since they don't mount to the frame. In the event the running board gets caught on something it'll be a pricey body shop repair to fix the cab.
