I recently installed the lower intake manifold gaskets on my 4.0 V6 and torqued them down to spec. The edge of the valve cover gasket surface on the lower intake manifold seems to be sitting just a hair proud of the gasket surface edge of the header. Is this a problem, or am I okay to go ahead as is? I tried fitting the manifold without the gaskets just to see the fit, and it was sitting below the edge of the header. I also noticed that the valve cover gaskets have a flexible spot right on that joint, so maybe I am okay? Would love to hear from anyone who has done this before. Thanks.

That's not unusual, valve cover gasket will seal just fine

My credo
I poop in the furnace.
I always dab some RTV in those spots on the valve cover but like Ron said, It'll be fine either way.

Thanks, RonD and Dirtman. I plan on putting some RTV on those spots, so hopefully it will be fine.

I had to do a double take when I read the title, I see this is older and the PO must have fixed the problem, but i was wondering how an intake gasket could touch a header, when he meant the head... cheers
