Lower and Upper Intake Gaskets for 3.0l V6 2000 Ford Ranger

Hey all,

back again with putting my engine together after fitting the heads on.

I have two gaskets here, upon searching all around google and youtube, for the life of me, I can't find exactly where they go..
Could anyone correctly tell me exactly which gasket goes where?
This is probably the last roadblock I'll be encountering prior to putting the AC, Power Steering and other misc parts together.

Just guessing. But the first one looks like it would be used for a twin throttle body.

Second probably goes between upper and lower halves of the intake.

At least that's how I would try to use those.

If you bought a gasket kit, it might have extra gaskets that fit different years or other options than what you have.

Extra parts do happen.

It is an entire gasket kit from "Engine-Tech" that includes every gasket from the heads to intake to exhaust manifolds.

Looking at your head set picture it looks to be a multi-fit kit.

The 3.0 used metal and plastic upper intakes over the years. The metal one would have used a flat paper gasket similar to the one you pictured in the original post, or like what is found just to the right of the head gaskets in the kit picture.

A plastic upper intake would have a groove cut in it to hold a rubber o-ring style gasket, which I believe is the other piece you pictured. I wasn't sure of it until I saw the picture of the whole kit and saw there are three of them.

Being a 2000 yours should have the plastic upper that uses the o-ring style, but I haven't really dealt with Ranger 3.0s much, so I'm not sure of that.

This is all correct except the last part. Plastic upper intakes started sometime in 2001 MY. Use the flat gasket if you have an aluminum upper intake manifold. Use the o-ring style if you have a plastic upper intake manifold.
