Hey there. I've got a 1992 Ford Ranger 4x4 4.0, and the previous owner installed a 3 inch body lift. It makes it look really ugly and really scary to drive, so I'm looking to remove it. How would I go about doing that? Anything that I should keep in mind or anything special that I need to do? Thanks.

What is wrong with the bodylift?

I have one on my '85 and I have taken it on longer trips than any other vehicle I have owned. Drives great down the road.

Should be straightforward to remove, download the directions from the Performance Accessories kit and just do it in reverse.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
If it's really scary to drive then something else is probably going on.

I probably should've elaborated a little bit more. The truck already has a huge suspension lift on it already, and a body lift, with smaller sized tires. It rolls around a lot because it's so tall.

I’m still inclined to say there’s likely something else going on. My choptop has a 2” body lift and 5” suspension lift. It’s downright scary on 31x10.50-15 tires on stock rims but stable on 35x12.50-15 tires on aftermarket rims. The wider tire and slightly wider stance does the trick for me. A body lift doesn’t raise the center of gravity as much as a suspension lift does.

That said, there isn’t much to removing a body lift or even installing one for that matter. Bunch of bolts, 2x4 and a jack.

If it were me and the ride was scary, I would ditch the suspension lift and keep the body lift. The body lift allows you to work on the mechanics of the vehicle easier then without one. Maybe wider tires are in order.

So, the tires that were suppose to be on there were removed and rollers were put on ? Maybe a 2" body lift from James Duff and a 2" suspension lift riding on 31x10.5x15s would be in order. You can get some nice retreads for snow and off road use in p245/75r/16.

Doing things wrong, until I get it right.
@Paysochan the body lift is just spacers between the actual body of the truck and frame. It should be fairly simple to remove them. 1) Remove the bolts through the spacers, 2) have a buddy or two lift up, 3) remove spacers, 4) lower cab/bed 5) replace bolts.
