Hi,
I have a 2020 Ranger (6 ft bed; not crew cab) and am looking for recommendations on best camper shell topper
Ideally snug fit; as light as possible; lockable with blacked out windows

SnugTop, Leer, what works best?

My credo
19K, 19D, 92Y, 88M, 91F....OIF-III (2004-2005)
They're all over-priced for no better fit and finish from what I've found. ARE is another consideration too. $2-4k price tags, and they never fit right, and leak. I've had 2 Century shells made by Leer, neither of them fit as well as you'd think for the price they want, and both of them leak. The 30+ year old shell I found for my 87 Ranger seems to actually fit better and not leak.

I'd stick to Leer, or ARE. I'd also tell whoever installs it to make it fit perfectly with no leaks for the price they're gonna charge you.

Any shell can have lockable/black windows, or no windows. Light? Umm you'll want aluminum for that...but for a small truck like that even a standard fiberglass shell isn't going to be all that heavy.

Like wildbill23 said, Leer and ARE are probably going to be your best choices. Pace makes a decent bed cap as well. Be prepared for sticker shock. I paid 1,800 for my Pace cap on the 2011 about 2013. The Leer cap on my 2019 with the 5 foot bed was about $3,000 in 2020. The 2019 has a carpet liner and two switchable lights that come on with the lift gate and screen protectors for the windows. The cap for the 2019 is significantly smaller not only because of the shorter bed but also because of the taller bed sides. So, even with the added accessories, quite a price jump considering the lesser amount of materials used to make the cap.

Now, both of these caps were ordered with a reinforced roof for a roof rack as well as a pair of roof racks. So, if you go more bare bones, the price you pay may not be as high. The only leaks I've had in the trucks has been a failed third brake light seal on the Leer cap and a couple of fasteners for the lift gate that weren't properly tightened.

Don't cheap out on the cap to bed seal. That seems to be the big issue with leaks. It is worth paying the extra money foe a better seal.

EDIT: Jason, not Pace. Pace is a Jason model.

My credo
"220, 221, whatever it takes."
As mentioned, Leer and ARE are probably the highest quality and best-looking but priced accordingly.
I got a used Ranch cap on my old Sport Trac, quality was perfectly fine, the side glass was tinted and screened although not as smooth as Leer and ARE, but they cost less.
I checked the fit chart, they make them for 2019+ Rangers.
