Hi all. I have a 91 Plain Jane Ranger with a 4 speed overdrive behind a Seriously weak 4 cylinder. I think it's about a 1.4 or something. I am able to squeak about 35 mpg out of it right now. Could anyone recommend a good replacement engine that will not rob me blind on mileage while boosting my power? :icon_confused:

You have one rare RVB with the 1.4L 4 cylinder. You could upgrade to the 2.3L found in every other '91 pick up. By "4 speed overdrive" do you mean the auto trans? It would be wise to swap out that slushbox for an M5OD 5 speed manual. This would give you better fuel economy AND performance.

Turbo it is

Thanks all. I was just guessing on the 1.4 or whatever. It already has a 4 speed overdrive Manual tranny. I Love that. Speeking of which, when I let the clutch out it comes almost all the way up before engaging. Does this mean that the clutch is New or Worn out? Thanks again for your help.:icon_cheers:
