It will stay in 2wd and 4low without anything holding it.Best workaround is to actually fix the electrical motor system. Do you know what’s wrong with it? There’s a good troubleshooting article in the tech section.
in a pinch, you can remove the motor and shift the t-case with vice-grip pliers. I’m not sure how people keep it in position when they do that.
