Is DJM the only way to go? I know there are other products out there, but this seems to be the most common kit that's talked about on here. Before anyone says it, no, I am not going to a 4/5. I don't like the way trucks look that low. I'm just looking to get the weight of the truck closer to the road. I've had cars since I passed my drivers exam and I prefer that, but having a truck makes more sense in my life right now.

I guess I'm looking for opinions on other kits (or safe and functional diy set ups) for lowering the truck a bit.

Take a look on some truck sites see what's out there but i personally run the DJM 4/5 and the way the company did the kit is top notch. Everything is built the right way and truck rides like it did stock. They may not be the only manufacturer but they seem to be the leader in kits for rangers. I've heard of springtech for off road but idk if they do lowering kits. Maybe hit Ebay and see what pops up. Which ever way you go, just do your research, but my vote is DJM. :icon_thumby:

You can go real cheap & just cut 1 & 1/2 coils off each front spring....but the ride is rough.....

or you can buy 3" drop coil springs....but the ride is almost as rough...

or you can buy DJM's or another set of beams that's out there.....I forget the manufacturer's name.....and get a factory ride....(I went the cut-spring route for 2 years & am now ready for a SMOOTH ride.....LOL

Does someone have a picture of these beams installed? I thought beams couldn't be used with coil springs.

What? Beams only ever came with coil springs. What year is your truck?

yours is a 99 which means you have upper and Lower A-arms. With just a 2/3 drop via springs and a flip kit it will ride really rough. Also with just 2" drop springs you alignment is not going to be perfect. You should really think about the 4/5 it rides really nice and it's not too low that you can't go anywhere. Here's a little motivation to go 4/5

To those of you who posted photos, what size tires are you running? Maybe it's the photo on DJM's site, but your trucks don't look as low. Anyone live in NH or MA so I could see this in person? :)

i believe 245/45 18's but let me double check that. mine has a chevy lowering shackle on rear so it would raise it an inch just so mine sat level. rear looked a little too low with 5 drop. Sorry i'm in AZ. If your ever out here its here haha

Keep in mind there that DJM is trying to sell a lowering kit. It is in there best interest for the trucks in the pics to look as low as possible for the give lift.

Does anyone have a photo of there truck next to a Colorado Extreme/ZQ8? Or have you been next to one and noticed it's higher or lower (or the same)? My father has one and that would give me a really nice picture of how the ranger would look.
