My credo
I don't count birthday's anymore...just happy to be looking down at the ground instead of looking up
Wow... I don't think I could live somewhere where its illegal to play with my own hose.
Come on now....we all know you "play" with your hose everyday !!! Maybe several times a day ???

As someone who’s owned a bunch of new Fords... What’s a gas cap?
Something a lot of people leave sitting on top of the pump after they're done. They either cut the leash, or it broke and they left it that way. Mustang I recently bought, the plastic leash was cut.

I've seen a few mechanics talking about how bad the cap-less systems can be over time and repairs for seal leaks are expensive. At least permanent repairs are.

My credo
I poop in the furnace.
I had to do the one on my mkx because it was leaking, had to replace the filler tube as a unit. It was covered under warranty but the part was around 200 bucks. vs a 10 dollar gas cap... yea its idiotic.

I wonder if the locking cap would fix this.

When this "capless" system came out, I had a lot of cars with "slow/small leak" codes/mil light on--had to use smoke machine, to pinpoint cause--many of them leaked on the filler tubes, but not at the top/capless door seals like you might think--most leaked were the filler tube received tire debris/road grim, or else where on the EVAP system hosed/fuel tank itself- This cap would secure the fuel system, but the percentage of units that actually leaked out the top/shutter door seal, were few!

It won't.

The seal that replaces the traditional gas cap and takes over it's function of sealing vapors in the tank is part of the filler neck. The plug that was linked to is just a piece that blocks access to the flapper that seals the system so that gas thieves can't stick a hose down in there.

In my day, the small leaks were measured/monitored from .020 TO .040-- Last classes I attended, indicated measurements down to .010--Did this get phased in???

Not sure if something like this would fit on a new Ranger. Just looking at the filler hole of the new Ranger and comparing it to an MKC we have, they look dissimilar from a visual inspection. I'd find it hard to believe that Ford would go through the trouble of changing an injection molded part after only a few years. Then again on that link they have a list of compatible cars and some of them go up to 2019 while others stop at 2014 and so on. Ford's engineering and design team never cease to amaze me sometimes.

A member on another Ranger forum bought one of these, it does not fit 5G Rangers at all. Why in the world Ford would design it differently is beyond me.
Even the vehicle application chart for this "plug" does not list Rangers

This says nothing about our Rangers?
