For the "strongest" d30. The 94-99 xj's. I think that's the years. Has the larger ujoint shafts and high pinion with no CAD disconnect crap. However they are set up for coils and control arms. Verify those years. Find out what years are high pinion and the larger ujoint shafts

I just don't get why people want to use leaf springs on the front axle???

It's easy and simple. Other then the shock mounts and spring pads it's almost bolt on.

I'm also not going for tons of flex, I'm trying to keep it under 4" of lift if I can.

You have to do at least 4 inches of lift to safely keep the differential from hitting the engine crossmember. Plus it's easier to do coils since your truck is already setup for them.

Like he said...it already has coils. Just think it would be easier but if you want to go with springs then go for it!

I don't ever recall seeing a d30 with leaf springs. But i'm sure it would be easy for you (since your considering an SAS) to weld on some spring mounts and go from there.

Good luck!

a lot of the t-bar guys do leafs since they don't have coils already..

OP- look at dangerrangers build, or kroussinoffroads mazda build, or escort_gts's (both of them) ... and see whats involved w/ a d30 swap w/ coils. you'll be happy you did it over leafs. only thing is, long arms ain't cheap.... Rusty's Long arms will cost you like $500 (for a cherokee). but for flex/ride/control it'd be worth it. plus the axle and truck are set up for coils and control arms (ra's on the truck)

All Cherokees are coil 88 to 96 the same. 97 to 99 use the bigger u joint. They are all high pinion. Yj wranglers are d30 leaf spring. Use the smaller u joints.. I would just use a 97 to 99 Cherokee. They can be had pretty cheap around me. Just grind the coil buckets and everything off. And get some ballistic fab spring perches

order from ballistic if you wanna wait a year or so to get your stuff.
order from ruffstuff :icon_thumby:

and there's the years you want. 97-99. (2000 started low pinion, weaker and well, its low so less clearance)

not to make this thread about this...
but you're one of the few. i know several of the guys on here (including myself) have been left waiting for months for something. i ended up ordering the same thing from ruffstuff and got it in a week...and still aint got my ballistic order (finally got my credit card company to refund the money, i couldn't get ballistic to help me at all w/ my problem). so from my personal experience i say avoid ballistic.. and pirate doesn't even have them as a vendor anymore b/c of customer service issues.

On another note. I think I have a set of spring perches with the weld on ends that I bought and never used
