I don't pay that much attention to European stuff, I've worked on Too many VW's, Audi's, Mercedes, Peugeots, Fiats, Saabs and Volvos to have any interest in their stuff. Ford got the ZF CVT and PTU from Germany, along with expensive unreliable Bosch starters and alternators and the NFG DPS6 used in Focus's and Fiesta's. The Cologne V6's were pretty good once all the oil leaks were addressed, other than cracking heads on the OHV's. The overcomplicated SOHC 4.0 would have been better if they'd cast mirror image cylinder heads instead of a single casting with a valve train designed by Rube Goldberg when he was drunk. The B&S max look kind of like the C Max. We sold a big handful of those and customers liked them once we got the parasitic draw on the 12v batteries corrected. The Europeans manage to sell a bunch of manual transmissions and I suspect that's because they don't have one hand full of "smart" phone.

Wait. Isn't the Ecosport (formerly C-Max) on the Focus platform? I'm assuming the Fiesta and Focus were on different platforms.
The C max was on the "Global C platform". The B Max is the "Global B platform". CMax-->BMax, get it?
CMax was essentially a hybrid Focus. As far as I can tell about the only thing that the CMax and Ecosport share is a badge. The Ecosport is smaller, and is basically a Fiesta with a lift kit.
So:
Global B Platform = Fiesta, BMax, EcoSport, etc
Global C Platform = Focus, CMax, Escape/Kuga, Transit Connect, some Volvos, etc
CD4 platform = Fusion, SMax, Edge, Continental, etc
D3/D4 platform = Taurus, Flex, Explorer, MKT, etc--- This platform went away in 2019-2020

The Galaxy has no equivalent in the US. It's too bad because they look very cool and would be highly functional, I think. Reminds me of a Mazda 5. The Galaxy shared a platform with the VW Sharan, which isn't available in the US either, until 2010.
