Those numbers make no sense whatsoever. A properly functioning system doesn't take that much power to operate.

System seems to be working fine. And any vehicle I've had, running the AC/defrost does take power to run and gas mileage.

Sure, some. Your numbers are easily an of magnitude out of line.

16 was the last fill up for the Expo. During the summer, which was not hot, I didn't use the AC much at all and saw a low of 18. No AC/Defrost the best I got was 20.8.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
If I turn the A/C off, I have to roll the windows down and stick my head out to cool off. That adds wind resistance and my mileage gets worse than running the A/C.

That's also almost certainly attributable to winter blend fuel differences.

Very well could be. I forgot about the damn 10% ethanol. Its just starting to hit my area. I grew up with it in PHX though.

This is something I wanted to do with my trucks and never got that far. I like having the heater set to defrost/floor in the winter and I see no point in having the ac cycling all the time when I’m running heat anyway. Maybe if I really want to get elaborate make a circuit where every time the truck is shut off it resets to active and you have to manually switch it back off…

If you drive at WOT(wide open throttle) all the time AC will stay off :)

My wife does this, but AC being off is just a by-product of her "need for speed" :)
