- WHY DO I KEEP BUYING DODGES?!?!?
Since it's axle and 3.0 related, I didn't know where to pose this question, but what is the most common rear axle ratio for a 3.0? I read a lot on here about what a turd it is, and from what I've seen in sigs and threads is that a lot of guys have 3.73's. I have 4.10's and an auto, and I think mines pretty peppy myself, so I'm wondering if maybe the perception of the 3.0 being a dog is more because its commonly found with a 3.73 final drive instead of a 4.10 final drive. I drove my stepfather in law's 1998 3.0 with a 5spd and that thing just felt gutless, but mine's always seemed to leap at a stoplight pretty good. Like I said, just curiosity getting to me. I know I burn E85, but I wouldn't think that extra 9HP/12trq would make that much of a difference so that's why I'm thinking it's just that so many 3.0's have a different gearing. The other two people I know with 3.0's - coworker's 2000 FFV and my friend's 1998 3.0, are both auto's and both have the off road package and have similar gearing to mine, so maybe 4.10's from the factory isn't common in a plain 3.0 like mine.
