Maybe I've been sleeping but never read about this Truck being in development

Full electric
0-60 in 3 seconds!!!
830ft/lb torque

Hennessey builds the fastest trucks but even its Ram 1500 TRX with 1,000HP "only" hits 3.2seconds

I need to buy me a long extension cord

Was reading this article when I came across it: https://www.motor1.com/car-lists/fastest-pickup-trucks/

Jeeze, true 4 wheel drive, an electric motor at each wheel allows you to reverse 2 wheels on one side and move wheels on the other side forward, so spin in place, a way new meaning to the word "Donut" as far as "wheeled" vehicles are concerned

This is my Ranger. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
I think the Rivian vehicles look pretty good and will probably sell like crazy having a more traditional look than the Cybertruck for example. They're one of few electric vehicle companies that actually has a chance to survive and they should begin deliveries any day now to customers.

Top of the line with all the bells and whistles will only set you back over $100,000.
No bells and whistles but adding extended battery pack is still around $85,000

But the truck is said to have 11,000lbs towing and 1700lbs payload capacity so still seems like a capable vehicle

Electric motors have 100% torque and whatever the equivalent for horsepower is as soon as you press the pedal. Something and ICE could ever do. Of course, they still need to work on the energy storage and charging issue.

Capable.. until you try to tow 11,000 pounds with it.. and then need to charge your truck for 8 hours after probably an hour of driving.

Trucks intended to do truck things really have no business being electric.

Towing range (at full capacity) is about 50% of unloaded capacity. Just like a gas vehicle. So for the 400 mile range version, you still get 200 miles with a maximum load. This isn't complicated. If you have a problem with electric vehicles, at least focus on the real drawbacks rather than making up imaginary ones.

Recharging is certainly a complication for now. But that has improved tremendously from just a few years ago, and will continue in that direction.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
Texas and California are talking about rolling black outs during the hot weather because they can't generate enough power. No one's discussing upgrading the grid to handle a few million charging stations. Swapping the battery in a hybrid Escape or Fusion takes way more than 2 minutes.

Yes, but it doesn't have to. They can easily change the design to be modular. They had an electric race truck run in either Baja or Dakar a couple years ago and they put spare battery packs in the chase truck and just swapped them out real quick on the side of the trail.

The "swapping batteries" thing in real life would be way more complicated though. How do you know you're getting a good battery thats not gonna explode in 5 minutes? How would the manufacturer still warranty a vehicle with a random battery in it? Lots of legal issues in swapping around highly sophisticated $10,000+ batteries...
