Hello,

Just bought a 2000 ranger base model 4 banger with 350,000 miles on it. It runs amazingly well but has a few issues. I'll be asking questions and trying to help out where I can. I'm in sunny Oregon, work as an arborist and spend my free time with my wife, dogs and learning how to build stuff out of wood.

Here's a picture of the truck as I bought it and with the free topper I scored on facebook marketplace. Dented and dirty but no rust. Today the ranger got a new radiator and oil pressure switch as well as some hoses and an oil change. When I bought the truck the oil pressure gauge was not reading any pressure which I new wasn't right since the truck was humming along just fine and the guy had been driving it that was for a while (braver man than me). So I took a wild guess that the switch was bad, which turned out to be correct. Super easy to swap it out, and now I have a functional gauge that reads normal.

Coolant didn't look too bad, oil was black as all get out and there was some cheapo filter on there. So I'll change it again soon.

and if anyone needs to know where the oil pressure switch is located on a 2.5 lima motor the blue arrow is pointing to it. Was able to access it pretty easily with the truck up on ramps (tires were chocked and parking brake was on) with just a 3/8 ratchet and a spark plug socket. Took maybe 5 minutes.

Oh and the best thing was I took a trip to the local wrecking yard and scored a cap for the clutch master cylinder (which was missing when I bought the truck and had been replaced by an ill-fitting cap from a gallon jug held in place with a cardboard wedge 🤔).

While I was there I located a replacement turn signal lens and a few other trucks that I can pull anything else I need from.
