Hello! I've been lurkin' around for quite sometime now. having read and used quite a lot of info off TRS to keep my Ranger running. I bought it with 149K on the odometer, it now reads 217K I'm guesssing it probably closer to 300K 'cause the odomerter gets stuck on .7 and just sits there for days, Like I drove from Grand Rapids, MI to Cleveland, OH and back...and only logged 17miles!! I' ve gone thru 2 sets of 14" tires and am wearing thin on a set of 15"s I got off a '98. I also have replaced front disc pads twice and rotors once. along with most of the brake lines. I know it's time to do the rear drums and shoes, as they grind when turning corners. I'm sure the shoes are worn well into the drums and expect to wear myself out with a BFH breakin the rust seal and or worn lip on the drum(s) I want to have new drums, shoes and hardware all ready before I start. SO, my dumb question is where or how do I measure the drum to tell whether I have 9" or 10" Drums?? Is i the ID or OD? Thanks for providing all the information you do on this forum, I'm glad to now be a member!!

Welcome! Easiest way to tell the size is that the 10" are smooth on the outside while the 9" have flutes on the outside. Size is also cast into the rim O.D. as is the allowable size for turning.

I looked at this post to see some dumb answers to dumb questions...

However, all I found is a good question with two good answers.

Why am I disappointed?...

Because this is TRS, and it just isn't TRS if we don't go blow up some poor unsuspecting guy (or gal)'s thread.

In our defense... We usually answer the original question somewhere in the incoherent ramblings.

Today has been an awful day for punctuation. Definitely need indentations.

EDIT: I typed indentation and I was like "Oh my god I spelled it wrong it's indention!" After double checking both spellings are correct. What a strange day...
