Hey all, figured ive been here long enough, could be worth making a little build thread!

Back in august 2015 i was perusing facebook marketplace (maybe it was Craigslist, i actually don't remember lol) and found this little clapped out ranger, said it runs and drives, just cant go past 45. and as a broke kid i figured i could fix it and flip it for a little extra cash.
showed up and found it looking like this.

Decided it was a project worth pursuing and gave the owner $300 for it, drove it around the corner, stopped and held my foot on the brake, hit the 4x4 low button, and low and behold the truck could once again go over 45 (the lights for the buttons were stuck on, so it wasn't necessarily easy to tell it was in 4lo but the 5 mph first was a give away lol)

was missing the passenger door panel, and the rear quarter window. went to a junkyard and got a window, found a little roll bar in a 83, cleaned the bed out and found the door panel under years of crap, in surprisingly good shape!

put some little 31's on it with some old steel wheels to make her look a little more tough, and when it came time to sell it, i decided i actually loved this ranger as well, and its been my daily ever since. for a few years i drove it basically as it was, lots of camping trips and off roading. as well as road trips and whatever else caught my fancy!

after a while i decided she needed a facelift, so i found a nice bumper, grille, and black surround headlights.

and after a few months i decided to build a winch bumper with a nice big stinger on it
IMG_5125.jpeg

couple years later i decided the wimpy 2.9 wasn't cutting it, so i swapped a 4.0 in to a marked improvement (apparently i dont have any pictures of that anymore)
with the addition of the 4.0 the d29 started being very upset, so it got swapped to a d35 (using its own winch to rip the d29 out lol)
IMG_5734.jpeg

slapped some big ranger decals on the sides
IMG_7816.jpeg

maybe a few years later i found an old 4.0 Paxton kit! had to have it so slapped that bad boy on! along with a twEECer to kind of tune it.
IMG_6150.jpeg

took it drag racing obviously after i supercharged it (any guesses as to the time it ran?)
CF6CE672-83E0-4069-97EE-72441663584B.jpeg

and of course the drag racing wasn't very friendly to the 30 year old rear axle, which i then swapped to a explorer sport trac disk 8.8

the last thing i eventually did swap was i put a m5od out of a 55k mile sport trac, and the truck has still never let me down!

im no good at creative writing, but thought i would give it a little shot!

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
Cool story, and good write-up.

That's a nice truck; I like how you upgraded it.

10 second 8th mile?

Sweet build! It kills me how expensive those centrifugal superchargers are.. it's half a turbo with a little gearbox on the backside.. pretty simple..

It's also a bummer how China hasn't provided us with reasonably priced ripoffs yet lol. Cmon China..

I've never seen a Mustang front end like that. I like it. Is it a kit? Something custom? Or just carefully selected parts? WAG 9.6?
