60mph in 5th it’s reading 1000In my experience, on most vehicles moving down the road at highway speeds in a top (overdrive) gear, you will get about 25 mph for every 1,000 rpm. This means 60 mph in top gear would be about 2,500 rpm. See if your tach reads anywhere close to 2,500 rpm at that speed in top gear.
If your engine is turning over 5,000 rpm at 60 mph, you've got a real problem.
