Hello,
I have a 1995 Ford Ranger 2.3L and it is having an intermittent issue, sometimes the A/C only works while the car is moving, and blows hot or significantly warmer air when it is idling. When it’s acting up (only while idling) I can hear the compressor switching on and off, about 2 seconds on, 2 seconds off, and blowing warmer air. Once I start accelerating or am cruising on the highway it blows cold and doesn’t stop blowing cold until I’m stopped and idling again. Sometimes it works fine while idling, other times not, but when one thing that is consistent is when it blows warm air while idling, I always hear the compressor doing it’s 2 seconds on, 2 seconds off pattern. I think it might be a failing compressor but I’m not sure, any ideas? Thanks in advance.

With everything off, get some feeler gauges and check the gap on the clutch on the front of the compressor. See if it's around .020-.030 of a inch. If it's wider that might be your problem.
