My steering shaft has a lot of play in it. Does anyone make an aftermarket replacement? I cannot get one from Ford or anyone else. I might have to look at a wrecking yard. I know I have seen pics of someone with a nice shiney aftermarket one, but it might have been a custom made one.
It is the slip joint thing that has play in it (the thing that is suppposed to collapse in an accident to prevent the steering column from being pushed into the driver). The u joint and the rag joint is fine. I am not sure if there is supposed to be a plastic sleeve or bushing in that slip joint, but there is not. Could that be the cause of the play?
