hello, i have a 01 regular cab ranger 4x4 4.0l and was wondering if crossmembers are interchangable between a regular vs extended cab of the same other specs.

Welcome to TRS :)

Frames are the same width if that helps, not sure which crossmembers you are asking about?
Rangers came with separate front and rear frames

Same rear frames and beds were used, 6ft, on both extended and regular cabs
There were some Long Bed Rangers, 7ft bed and longer rear frame, regular cab only

4x4 frames were Boxed up front to be stronger
Extended cab front frame was longer than regular cab front frame

But as said, frame width was the same from 1983 thru 2011

My credo
I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
In layman’s terms:
Yes, some of them.

Yeah, it depends on which crossmembers... up to the transmission corssmember they are the same, starting about the rear axle they are the same again... between those two areas there are differences.

just to clarify so the from the transmission crossmember back for 83-11 regardless of 4wd or 2wd they should be interchangable? with regards to the spare tire, gas tank and 3rd crossmember back?

sort of... somewhere around '98 they changed the spare tire mounting method from the swing down deal to the crank winch deal and some of the evap parts are mounted around there for whatever reason... so before jumping all in make sure it looks the same, that's where camera phones are nice...
