My credo
the grey-t escape
I dont see it being a problem, look how much of a load most trailers are rated for, usually a 5 lug hub axle on a trailer is rated for at least 3500 pounds. A 2wd reg cab 4cyl ranger is around 3,000 pounds. Ive done it before without a issue and the ones I ran were a spoke-stlye wheel which I dont think is quite as strong as the solid style your interested in.

The problem on many trailers is bearing or axle failures. The bearings fail on boat trailers in particular from being submerged without maintenance afterward, and axles fail from overloading the lightweight 1000–lb GW trailers sold at places like Northern Tool. I've never heard of a wheel failure on a trailer. The difference you'll find is that most older trailer wheels are small, 12" or as small as 10". You might have a hard time finding a set of used trailer wheels of the right size for your Ranger.

If you want to buy a full set, might look at something like Jegs or Summit. Last I looked steel wheels were only about $50 each new.
