I have yet to use the "S" mode for the transmission. however while driving with my hand resting on the shifter & I am drumming to the tunes, whoa ! .......
it down shifted from 8th to 6th. I must have tapped on the sport shift button.

correct me if I am wrong but I thought that button only functioned when "sport" is selected ? a quick look at the owners manual did not give me an answer.
anyone know for sure how that works ? thanks

You can select gears with the + and - buttons in non-sport mode as well. Sport mode just holds the gears longer before shifting for more spirited performance (and less fuel economy).

There you have it. ^^^^

I hate when my 93 gets stuck in “tired, lazy, don’t give a crap” mode. When that happens, i usually park it and go have a beer.

You should only use sport mode while driving on football, baseball, or soccer fields! Read your owners manual!

Autos should only have 3 gears. Just my opinion.

The OP didn't do it to you so you don't really need to do it to his thread.

I have not yet used Sport mode either. How did you know it was in 8th gear then went to 6th? I haven't seen any gear indicator on the dash so I must be missing something. :dntknw:

On mine with the two gauges, it shows up on the left side of the display in the center of the gauge cluster. Where the icons are. In normal mode, you have to push either the + or the - button for the gear numbers to display. I think, but I can't remember for sure, they display automatically in Sport mode but I only used it once out of curiosity.

yes, that is how it works, at least on my truck ?????

I noticed the gear change because the RPM`s increased & I had the gears showing on the display due to how it runs/shifts when starting out cold.
I thought it seemed to shift a bit different when cold, however after watching the display, it skips 2nd gear most times. 2nd seems to be used only when creeping
along in traffic. I am/was curious as to which gear it is in at times. I hope this is normal operating procedure, if not then it will go to the dealer to be checked/repaired.
