What's your estimate of your total cost so far plus the cost of the engine rebuild? Will you send it out to the machine shop and do the assembly yourself or send the engine itself and let them do the rebuild but you install it, or just drop off the truck and let them do all of it?
It would cost me around $1,000 to rebuild the engine. I would buy a remain head, hone the cylinders, Install new pistons, rings, bearings, oil pump, gaskets and freeze plugs. When I rebuilt the 2.3L in my old 97 Ranger, the only part I had done at a machine shop was installing the pistons on the rods.

I finally found a pair of blue rubber Ford Ranger floormats for the Ranger. I also replaced all of the plastic vacuum lines with silicone hose.

My Ranger was missing the VIN-ID label from the drivers door because the door had been replaced. I got a Marti Report on my Ranger to get a new label for the door.

I rebuilt the engine in my 92 Ranger for my Christmas vacation. I found that the oil pick up screen was about 70 % clogged with failed oil pan gasket rubber. There was also a crack in the head on #1 between the valves.

Looks awesome man. I especially like the flag :)
Did you make the air intake tube?
I need to learn how to make one

I just bought the aluminum air tube and blue silicone elbow on ebay. I can't tell any difference in the way the engine runs with the new air intake. I just like the way it looks.

The rubber gasket on mine wasted away and now I use some foam tape to try and keep anything from getting by it but it doesn't work nearly good enough. For some reason I could not locate one like mine at the pickers yard, and nothing there was even near.

The Ford house (3 or 4 years ago) would only sell the tube and two gaskets together (I needed only one gasket) at a price then of $210

Does that elbow flex? Do you use silicone to assemble it? can it be removed and replaced easily with no problems?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions :)

I didn't use any sealer on the air intake elbow. It seals well with the new clamps that came with it. It's easy to remove and install if needed. The tubbing and elbows come in many different sizes, shapes and colors. You should be able to find the parts that you need on ebay.

I installed a new Hurst shifter in my Ranger and did some more cleaning and detailing under the hood.
