Im looking to buy a cheap car that has good aftermarket support for engine modifications, Im open to imports and domestics and I like sleepers. what in your guys option could give me the best bang for my buck.(Im still going to keep my Bronco 2 so the cheaper the car the better) :3gears:

I know to that cheap doesn't always work with fast, Im looking for something thats not expensive to get into.

My top picks:
SN-95 Mustang (94/95 has a 5.0 swimming in an engine bay designed for a 4.6...)
1st genA DSM (90-91 Mitsubishi Eclipse/Eagle Talon/Plymouth Laser, I love looking over the pop up headlights, I used to have a '90 Laser RS turbo)
Foxbody (I would love a '85 or '86)

Of note stock running around 200hp they are not particularly fast by today's standards. A lot of 4cyls can tough that without a turbo now and a lot of V8's can run double that or more stock. They all have good aftermarket support (Mustangs would have better) But my stock Laser was a riot to drive.

Almost any '90s honda will have all the aftermarket support you could ever want. Slap a turbo on one of the many popular honda dohc engine & drop it in a light civic and it will be stupid quick.

Or you can get something cool like a 1st/2nd gen Taurus SHO. Cheap & quick but not a lot of aftermarket support.

I'm going to agree with with a '90s Honda Civic. EF and EG bodies are stupidly easy to work on. I see guys in the street legal classes running low 12s with them (once saw a guy hit 9.2 seconds in an EF hatchback). Cheap and vast aftermarket support. If you want to go past 9000rpm, this is the cheapest way to do it on four wheels.

You can find twin turbo 300ZXs for cheap too, but they are a pain to work on and unreliable. Eclipse turbos are out there too, but they're getting rare. I saw a guy with a complete sleeper first gen Eclipse barely lose against a C6 ZR1 Corvette on a 1/4mi. BMW E30s are out there too. They have decent power stock and are pretty cheap to build.

BMW 540i if you can find one. Light car, V8, 6-speed stick.

One guy who is in the store a lot says he beat his buddy's 3 series going light to light. He was in to get codes read, it was missing on 4 cylinders.

My credo
Clean your room before you criticise the world.
Mazda Rx 7 or 8 my brother had an rx8 I did 145 in it he still doesn't know ha ha the rx7 had a massive turbo on it they where both a pain to drive the 7 had no ass till the turbo lit then hang on it was bad but good luck with the parts for a rotory. its hard to find a FAST car that someone hasn't already got all the "fast" out of lol

My budget is low because of college so I'd say 5,000 and under how ever I'm going to try and keep a job in college so that can change. As for the Hondas I agree and have seen what they can do. Unfortunately I live where ever teenager with there license wants a Honda so they can put on a fart can and some big ugly fat wing because it adds horse power.:badidea: So most of them on Craigslist are trash but I would be open if I found a clean one. I like the odd cars like the vw golf mk1 that makes 1000 horses I find that to be cool. I guess tho what ever would fit my budget and still go fast I'll settle for

Hate to say it but almost all the cars mentioned are way above 5K. I stay away from foreign cars because if you can't work on them you can't afford it. My sons VW GTI Golf (turbo) just cost me 2500.00 for tranny repairs because VW wouldn't honor the warranty because he had an after market clutch put in when the POS factory throw out took a shit and got fluid all over everything. Imagine that. Mustangs are easy to work on and plentiful in numbers and parts. And easy on the pocket if you're not wanting a Cobra, my next purchase lol. Plus if it's not American I really don't want it. :headbang:

You have to figure out your fast to cool ratio. If you want something pretty zippy and kinda cool like a turbo import or something violent fast like a worked over fox body 302.
