Well I've searched TRS and haven't really found the information I'm looking for. I have a old Ford truck with a BB 390 with a NP-435 4 spd with granny gear. The truck has seen better days but the drivetrain is in excellent condition and runs like a top. So the thought crossed my mind to put the 390 in a 2wd ranger. I know most of you are going to tell me to just put a 5.0 in it and call it a day, but I all ready own a 88' extended cab ranger 4x4 with a 5.0. I have yet to buy a 2wd ranger but have been looking around for one. My question is what would I need for motor mounts to put the 390 in a ranger? I have also seen guys put BBF's in rangers and they use headers that run over the frame rail and exit in the fender well. Can you buy these headers or are they custom fabricated? Any information would help me.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
make some mounts. use some old spring eyes or any of the urethane kits...

fenderwell header kit.

be prepared for some oil pan work and filter/cooler relocating etc..

do it. get it done.

Well, you should already have the rear sump oil pan and I believe that is the hard part of the deal.

I have thought about fenderwell headers for doing a 400 swap further down the road and figured I would buy a set of Ford headers and graft them to BB Chevy Nova fenderwell headers since they are the most prolific. You need to look and make sure they clear the steering column though.

Good luck and keep us posted if you go ahead with it.
