So after all the different things that I had thought to be the problem with my 88 ford ranger xlt and replacing so many different parts what I come to find out is that it was the wire harness that was the cause of all my headaches after noticing that when I moved the harness the truck would lose power and want to die so I did some looking around and noticed that I had a few wires that were exposed and so I began the process of removing it from the engine and fix the exposed wires that were all over in the engine bay I guess after 30 plus years it was just in need of some TLC spent a good two weeks on it not having much knowledge of repairing a wire harness I think it was pretty good time now the truck runs like a champ I mean I'm amazed by how smooth it idles and test drive it really pushing it just to see if it would want to do what it did before and it no symptoms of getting to hot and stalling no symptoms just a nice smooth ride so to any and all who are having intermittent starting problems like I thought I was check the wire harness as of today I know I have fixed the problem hopefully this helps thanks for all the information I found on TRS Forums really was a life saver
