So today I was bored at work and figured I would look up a new battery and get a price on it since we are an Exide dealer. My battery of choice was the Exide "Northstar" Part number PL-AGM65M. It's an AGM battery that's a direct replacement for my Explorer.
Gave the boss the part number and waited... figured it would be about $250.oo or so.

WRONG!!!

Jobber price on that thing is $428.oo! (canadian dollars) :icon_confused: I almost fell over from the shock! :shok:

All that went through my mind was "Are these things that expensive or is my boss politely telling me to find employment some place else?"
Seriously though... are these things really worth THAT much??? Are they lined with gold??? Maybe platinum???

why the hell would you need a $300+ battery? I could understand if you were constantly in situations requiring a super duper reliable battery, but on something that sees civilization on a daily basis that is pointless. Just get an Optima if you really feel like spending money on a battery!

I didn't say I bought it... just figured since we were an Exide dealer, I would price it out. I would hate to think what full blown retail would be on that bugger!

I didn't say you bought it either, I'm just wondering why anyone would!
