Good luck with that 6v system. Seems they were hit or miss from the factory. I gave up and built a 12v conversion for my '78 XL350.I have a '81 Honda XL250 and haven't ridden it for about 3 years for a couple reasons... one it's 6V and the rear lights don't work very well and haven't had time to clean the contacts (apparently that's most of the problem with 6V systems). But now that it's mentioned a couple times above it's scary enough some days driving a car around...
Not to mention that 250 is gutless, stock was I think 17hp... and it's heavy and has little suspension travel but is fun, I need to get it going again...
