So... your question is how to wheel your rig? Take it off the road. If you want answers to your questions

1. Search the forums as most of the topics have been covered a dozen times

2. If you ask a question, be specific and give details so that we can help.

hey all, My name is Jeff and I live in South Carolina. I have a 1988 ford ranger that I have had since it was new. I have taken it off the road as a daily driver now I want to 4 wheel it. By the way it is a 2 wd now so I've got a lot of work to do. Thanks for your help that I know I will get. Jeff
There are no questions asked in this post, what are we supposed to answer?

Your second post,
Hey guys I'm new to the whole 4x4 thing and do not have a 4x4 yet I have a 1988 ranger that I'm going to build in to a 4x4 but don't know where to start if some of you local guys could give me some advice I 'd love it. Thanks jeff
First off, this was posted in the wrong forum. Secondly, your question is very broad. I am assuming you want to know how to convert your RWD ranger to 4WD? Well, there's plenty of threads that have all the information. Last but not least, most of the members here disreguard uneducated questions about advanced modifications. If you don't know where to start, maybe you should look into selling the truck and purchasing a 4x4 truck as it will be easier and probably cheaper.

PS: I don't think you'll have to worry about passing up too many trail rigs with a 2WD :thefinger:

i find it odd that you want to spend the time money and effort to make some thing 4wd that just blows my mind. go buy a 4wd.

your post got missed.

this forum recieves, on average, over 60 new threads and over 560 posts every day. its easy for a new thread to quickly get burried and missed. next time you might try a simple "bump" to bring it back to the top of the pile.

and you can be pissed and make idle threats all day long, the fact is you failed to recieve any FREE HELP from people here on TRS. we dont OWE you anything, and you have no reasonable excuse to be upset.

welcome to TRS douche bag :icon_cheers:

OK I was wrong

Well I need to back up and try again. Forgive me. I was wrong in what I said and how I said it. But to answer some of your questions, the ranger means a lot to me. So I will not git rid of it I have built many cars and trucks in my life just no 4x4s. I want to do a custom suspension I'm just not sure where to start. I did check out some but not all of the tech notes. I wanted to know if there is a book or something I can get to help me get the ball rolling.

on another note even when I said the wrong things in my post I never called any of you names and I do not think that was right to call me one. but I'm a big boy and can take it. I hope I haven't pissed you all off to the point of no return. and I do not thing anyone here owes me anything. so have a great day.

Well Jeff, I would have tried to help (if I even saw the post) but the truth is I'm just not that famaliar with the older rangers. I usually work on torsion bar trucks. One of the easiest ways in my opinion is to do a frame swap. Just put your body on a 4wd frame.

i think part of your problem is you want a custom suspension, theres no how to for custom hence they call it custom. id start looking for a donor around the same year and grab your tape, and get to measuring, cutting, and welding,

you need everything for your front. of your picking( spring front end leafs, coil over or what ever) you need to swap your tranny for a 4wd tranny make sure your off sets are right, a t case andd two new drive shafts. and a good amount of time and $$

next time just be alittle more specific on things. your post was alittle general in what you wanted. what do you plan on doing with the truck after you make it 4wd(rock crawl, mud bogg, etc?) what kind of 4wd(twin I-beam, or Straight axle swap?). daily driver? mechanical skills (welder, ect)?what are your funds?

you also might want to go the underconstruction section to get some ideas on what you wantand how you want to do it.

hope that helped you out alittle, welcome to TRS.

P.S. dont fret when people dont reply you to your thread. you dont want to look like the mad little midget in a crowd do you?
