This is precisely why I don't play the trade-in game. Salesmen know all the little tricks and tactics and make it as confusing as possible. And they definitely lie, every single one of them does it. Car salesmen are shitty little weasels.

Break it right the first time. Fix it better the next time.
Sorry to hear about this Jim. Really does take all the fun and excitement out of the purchase.

So- when does the “trs-3” build thread start? As much as I prefer the older iron I am looking forward to this.

I haven't called the dealer. I started the deal with the salesman who then put me with his manager to haggle. The person that closed the deal was the sales managers boss, the general manager. What do I do, call the general manager to complain on the general manager. I signed the stupid paperwork.

I literally just had a conversation with my daughter about not letting them roll negative equity in on a deal when she trades her Wrangler, and then let it happen to me. 🤦‍♂️

Right now I'm packing to go meet my girlfriend 3-hours away at her father's. Her father passed away and the funeral is this weekend. I should be there. This is not a good week.

Next week I'll reach out to some companies to see if any will sponsor the build. Maybe that will make me feel better.

There is a guy above the general manager.

In our dealer the GM answers to the owner/dealer principle.

For us the gm is more on the service side, the principle/owner is more of the manager of sales.

We are a small dealer though.

I would call., worst they can do is laugh at you. :icon_thumby:

Edit: looks like they have two guys above the gm.

The build started when he accepted the terms and signed the papers.

As soon as he posts a picture of new parts boxes piled up on the living room floor, we should all take a road trip out there to “help” put it together.

Gonna say, I thought there was a “3-day” rule or law of some sort.
Some states say tough luck. Florida has no buyer's remorse enforcement. You do the deal, it's done.

Jim as much as this sucks, the families loss is hard and the week likely will be “one to remember” sometimes learning costs. And the bad thing is you already had that knowledge to share with your daughter, but now it will NEVER happen again and the way I try to look at wasted time or efforts is maybe if I was 3 minutes sooner I’d be dead in a “running red light” type situation. Either way you have the TRS YOU created and a guarantee that people here will back you and help find backers to support this build and make it the truck you want. Maybe this rough start will lead to a GREAT build. I know my Bronco II came apart like greased lightning, bolts that should have twisted off came out like they were 2 days old. Now it’s one of the biggest disasters I have created to date. Hopefully this will turn into a positive episode and all will be lost in campfire laughs, @Uncle Gump pizzas, and bourbon drinks. For now ( If law won’t help) move on put it behind you and time to focus on the fun part!! Sympathy for the loss!

My credo
If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
It sucks that you got handed off to a different person at the dealership because that person doesn't know and most likely wont honor what the first person said.

I've had one bad experience at the dealership buying a car. The sales lady had to keep walking away to ask if the price for the car I gave her was good enough. On the third walk away I asked if I could just talk to that other person since she herself could not make the deal. I walk in with 10k in cash in my pocket to buy the car and I got a run around. I so dislike bigger dealerships now because of it. The smaller dealerships seem easier to deal with and the sales person has more sway/say on the pricing.

I can't wait to see what you do to the new Ranger.
