My credo
Crossed threads are tight threads.
I think it was on Thursday or Friday. Ether metal or flap disc grinder material. Searing pain to the point of a runny nose. Closing eye made it worse. Last night, my buddy was able to spot it on my eyeball and fish it out. No sure if he got it all, but there was a tiny something on the q tip. My eye felt better after, but woke up to it swollen almost shut.

Is swelling just healing from the shrapnel and q-tip? or do I need to see a doctor? Pain is gone, I dont feel it in there scraping eyelid anymore, hoping it will just heal up now. Vision is still a little blurry out of that eye, but better than yesterday

How can I reduce the swelling? Ice pack? Warm tea bag? Cucumber slice?

Im trying to avoid a hospital trip during pandemic. Figured there would be plenty of experience in this crowd.

Cheers

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
You should have a doctor look at it. It could get infected and things would go from bad to worse.

Ice pack.
I think only time will tell about residue. But it's a good sign that it isn't painful anymore.
Wear a face mask...the clear poly kind meant to prevent flying particles entering the eye.
(It only took me 3 times to the doc to learn my lesson...)

It was like that when I found it.
I agree with both or the responses. Infections are never a ggod thing but especially there.

Try Urgent care? Ice pack until then!

Cold for swelling, heat to heal.

I've gotten metal in my eye before. You need to go to a doctor because if there's still any left it will rust in your eye and thats not fun.

If you don't wanna go to the hospital just call the regular eye doc. I've had my regular eye doctor dig crap out of my eye before without needing to go to the hospital. They'll numb it up, stick your head in a vice thing and dig it out with a pick. Then they lather you up with antibiotic goo and slap a pirate patch on you. If you're lucky and complain enough you might even score a couple vicoden. GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!

This!!!!
If it starts to rust, they have to go in with a tiny Dremel looking thing and grind away part of the eye. You don’t want that, trust me.

Majority, and Dirtman, says doctor...

Meh, Im gonna give it one more day. Its superbowl Sunday, and my birthday today. Im gonna prescribe some beer and ice, and either go tomorrow or make an appt with an eye doctors.

I dont mind male nurses. Makes me less self conscious about my appearance, and besides they're more gentle than females. Men seem to like me.... as do animals, kids and non-single women...but that story is for another time, and sucks anyways.

Well if you're not gonna go to the doctor today at least put some gold bond powder on your butt.

You DO NOT want to get an itchy butt and an itchy eye at the same time...

Yea good call, that would suck. It happened once before...resulted in pinkeye from a spray farted pillow.

A gentleman would let remain a cloth barrier whilst farting on another mans pillow.

The ER is probably empty. Had to go in April (not related to current events) and I think I was the only one in it. Usually the place is packed.

Second doc-in-a-box, usually WAY cheaper than ER. ER should be last resort unless you're just poor and want free medical treatment.

Good luck.
