I was doing my weekly check of various fluids today and noticed that when I changed the oil last week I didn't tighten down the oil fill cap it was just sitting on top of the hole. Im hoping that it held kinda tight by vacuum but im also hoping I didn't mess something up. Something kept it from falling off while driving on snow and what not and it still seems to be runing fine. Does anyone think I damaged anything? Usually I don't do crap like that guess it was just a brain fart.

it shouldnt have hurt anything, unless something got sucked in there like a chunk of snow. if your woried about the snow, run your truck for a few minutes and let it get warmed up and look at your oil filler cap, if theres some greenish greyish snot on it then youve got some water in your oil, but i wouldnt be too worried about it. i dont think theres really that much vaccuum at the cap to pull anything in.

There'll always be a little "snot" on the oil filler cap. condensation. If you pull out the dipstick and the oil looks good, and smells good, then chances are everything is fine.
