If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
I got my gf an rc for Christmas. Just a cheap thing for $90. Has 1 motor on each axle and came with this junk Ni-Hi battery pack made from 6x 1.2v AA batteries with a 40 min run time and a 5-6 hour recharge time.

My question is can I replace the battery pack with 2x 18650 3.2v lithium batteries so I can have high capacity and high drain battery pack with 3-4 times the run time with a 1 hour recharge time (I have a Butt load of 18650 batteries and 2 port battery trays).

If my current battery pack is 2200mah and 7.2v… then which 18650 batteries should I use?

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
The RIGHT thing to do with RC's is to immediately rip out all the stock electrics and replace them.

Hobbywing sells real affordable brushless/lipo setups. The receiver is probably built into the stock speed control.. so look at flysky for an affordable tx/rx. Then it's whatever battery/charger you want.

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!

Hmmmm. With enough ingenuity anything is possible! Guy I work with built a rock bouncer in the same scale from scratch by soldering together brass rods for the chassis and links and using some spare axles and stuff he cannabilized from another truck.
