Sorry. I didn’t sense the sarcasm. The Lake Lure dam was expected to fail. But it held. They were evacuating downstream of it.I was being sarcastic, there is no way to really prepare for that. Generators and plywood on windows need not apply.
i heard over the weekend at least one dam was expected to let go.
Agreed, something that big you can only do so much... and there isn't much you can do.
it’s very rare for Hurricanes to retain that kind of strength coming this far inland to this area. Hugo, in 89 hit pretty hard up through Columbia, SC and towards Charlotte, NC. Normally, we just get heavy rain and moderate winds from hurricane leftovers. Mom’s rain gauge measure 13inches by mid morning on Friday. That’s extreme.
