My credo
A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
My 460 also gets around 11 in my '93 with 4.10's. I've converted to mass air, added a quarterhorse (RIP), and been working on the tuning to improve it.

I did the math and concluded the original combo (205 tires and 3.45 gears) is roughly equivalent to the current combo (32" tires and 4.10 gears). I didn't mention that my transmission is rapidly eating itself. I excluded that to determine how much impact that factor had on my mileage without receiving unwarranted speculation. At one point I was getting 20mpg.
What exactly is the trans doing?

I cant see it causing a 50% drop in MPG.

You got any codes? Any sign of rich running? I would think dumping that kind of fuel into a 4.0 would show some sort of symptom.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
My 93 Ranger 2wd has a roller cam 95 F150 351 with Duraspark, an Edelbrock Performer, Holley 600 cfm, and 66 Galaxie 289 exhaust manifolds. The heads and manifolds are ported somewhat and it has a 2 1/2" single exhaust with a turbo muffler. For the first time in my life, I left the stock cam in place and just stuck 1.7 roller rockers on it. I recurved the distributor so it actually advances. The C4 is basically stock with a too loose TCI convertor and the 8 inch rear has 3.00 gears and a Yukon limited slip turning 95 Mustang wheels with 235/65R16 Cooper Enduramax tires. I average about 16 mpg all summer and occasionally still get to hear the Holley secondaries moan. Lifted + mud tires = lousy mileage.

Pictures attached of what trans is doing. That was after a few thousand miles. It grinds going into every gear when moving. It has some codes, but I don't remember them. I really wish Moates hadn't shut down without warning so I could get some real data! My 460 smells a lot richer than my Bronco. I know it needs a transmission. I can't decide whether to have the spare rebuilt before I install it. I agree mileage is unbelievably low: the worst I ever got in my 4.0 SOHC Explorer was 11, and that was pulling ~3k into a 40mph headwind.
