Just pulled my intake manifold and valve covers to replace my rockers and rods. See journal here: https://www.therangerstation.com/forums/index.php?threads/journal-replacing-my-rocker-arms-and-push-rods-on-1993-ranger-4-0.211359/

I did notice a lot of carbon buildup in the intake. What is the best way to clean this? Pick and intake cleaner with shop vac on while picking? There’s a lot, and I’m afraid some might not make it into the vacuum hose. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

From what I can see, it doesn't look that bad. Looks about like one that I asked the same question about several years ago. Let me see if I can find that pic.

I was advised then not to worry about it too much, but I had the lower intake off and scrubbed it with a stiff plastic brush and mean green. It didn't help much.

Oven cleaner will take it off, but you have to pull it off the motor and make sure you neutralize the cleaner and rinse it good, it’s corrosive…

Decided to let it ride per the comments here. Thanks for the input!
