Hi guys, I took a couple pictures of my 94 4.0 engine wiring harnesses - they're rewrapped with colour coding - I think they might take the confusion out for a lot of guys, but I can't figure out how to attach a picture to a thread. Or is there an email address I can send it to and you guys can have a look and decide if you want to post it ?

In the quick reply box there is a little yellow icon with mountains and a sun in it. Click on that during your response and paste the URL for the image into the box. Then click 'OK' and your picture will be there. (You will need to upload it to photobucket or something similar for the URL though)

uhhh - yeah. I don't even know what a photobucket is. Just to clarify, in '94 I had a '94 Ranger and a 14 yr old kid so not so tech savvy as maybe I should be. When I click on the mountain, I get something about a URL that I don't understand. This is a good picture of the wiring harness though, it'd be a shame not to post it for someone having problems to have a look at.

You cannot copy your photos directly into most forum websites (eg, TRS). Textual words are small. Photos are huge, so they consume too much storage space ($$$).

So, you've gotta join a photo-sharing website (eg, photobucket.com, flikr.com, imgur.com, skydrive.com, etc.). There are so many, and most have freebie offerings (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_photo_sharing_websites ).

Then upload your photo from your computer, up to that internet photo-sharing website. That makes your photo exist someplace on the internet, so then you can get its URL (ie, universal internet location) of that specific photo. A URL looks like "http://whatever.jpg"

When posting into TRS (or any forum), you click the yellow icon that Rangurr mentioned. That icon asks you to "paste" a copy of your photo's specific URL into the box. Presto! Your TRS posting will display the photo, even though the actual photo lives out on the internet, outside of TRS itself.

This allows TRS to refer to your photo without paying extra $$$ to store copies of your photo. Also, each photo-sharing web site usually gives you choices about who is permitted to view each 1 of your photos, in case you want some to be more private than others.

Got it?

Step 1: join some photo-sharing website
Step 2: upload photo to that website
Step 3: get a copy of its URL (ie, its address)
Step 4: paste its URL into your TRS post

Thanks for the explanation. I'll give it a try. I guess a guy's got to learn this stuff sometime.

For the record, I think posting pics here is well within your abilities if you put that site together yourself.

All you really need to do is have the picture address. It goes like this:

After you post the picture to another site, you should be able to simply right-click on the image and click on "copy URL" and after that just paste it into the TRS box.

To capture any web photo's URL, each web browsers has its own built-in mechanism:

If browsing the internet with InternetExplorer, just Right-Click on the photo, and select "Copy". Otherwise, Right-Click and select Properties, and it'll show you the Address (so you can highlight that with mouse to copy it).

If browsing the web with Firefox, just Right-Click on the photo, and select "Copy_Image_Location".

Some photo-sharing sites have a handy button to display a photo's URL (so you can copy it).
