Just about every truck manufacturer has snow plow prep options. When shopping for strobes, I often find myself on a plowing site. Heck, this forum is titled "snow plowing." How common is it to need a vehicle mounted plow? Does the municipality not plow the roads? Do all yanks have mile long driveways? I would have thought it was more like street sweeping... The municipality does it or the parking lot owner hires a company to do it.

What's the worst that could happen?
I have a rule that I only plow in the winter:rolleyes:....and then only when I absolutely have to.

I have never used one so they must be rare.
As a matter of fact, I've only seen them on this forum so obviously it's a trick that northerners play on us southern folk to make us think winters are tougher than they really are, so we won't migrate up there with our sandals and Nissan trucks.

(Jokes folks)

Big thing. There are a lot of guys that will plow for beer money. Do one or two parking lots or a few driveways.

Around here, the only ones that rely on it for winter income are landscapers, cut grass in the summer, plow and salt in the winter. Salt is a big thing too, lota markup.

Plus like others have said, if you driveway is going to take more then an hour or so to shovel/ blow people will get a plow and be done in 15 minutes, do their neighbors driveway for $20. Some people buy a rusted jeep or something that they don't even need to put tags on, and strap a plow to that.

Here’s one of our plow trucks. It’s got 21 feet of plow blade. (11’ main and 10’ wing.) It’s nothing like street sweeping.

All clean and shiny. Probably never gets used in NJ. All them hotheads up there probably melt the snow before it hits the ground. LOL

Wish my county had more than 3 snowplows. It's usually 3-4 days before my street gets plowed.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
NH does a good job on the state roads and our town takes care of the town roads really well in the winter. I lived on a private road from 76 to 87 and plowed it myself, along with all the neighbors' driveways. The other 3 people on the road were part time residents from Lynn, Mass and were good neighbors. One sold his house to another guy from Mass and he was what is not too lovingly called a flatlander here, he saw me plowing the road and asked why I was doing it. I said it snowed and I wanted to be able to go to work, he said I shouldn't plow it, I should sue the city. I explained that in NH, we don't sue our neighbors to make them pay our bills.
I bought a 30hp Kioti tractor that works slick to plow with. 20 inches of powdery snow, sub zero temps, gusty wind, and a snow blower don't make for a fun time.

When I lived in Ohio I had a large paved circle driveway that was to much for me to plow with the blade I had on my lawn tractor, so I bought a used plow to stick on the Ranger when I needed it.
