My dads isusu trooper with the 3.2 dohc v6 makes an awful noise sort of like a SUPER loud ping anywhere above 2500 RPm. Its worse on hills and only does it when the engines under pressure, not when revving in neutral, etc. Its constant at interstate speeds and i know it cant be good but cant figure out the problem. Any ideas?

buy some maf cleaner if it has one and clean it, replace air filter, fuel filter. if that dont work try octane boost or higher grade fuel

def. do a seafoam treatment through the intake

yup its pinging. my 2.3 ranger did it till i did all of the above. reccomend seafoam first

try cleaning the maf and iac, check the spark plugs and wires, also check the octane on the fuel its using, mine did it before tuning it up and when the iac mas messing. when i use non premium starts with the ping again

How many miles? How much oil pressure? Worst case scenario, could be bearing rattle under load.
