so some of you guys probably saw my post about picling up that white ranger last week
i went and got it with my dads truck and took the battery out of my daily driver to use to load it
now the issue is my good battery is inside this truck and ive pulled the hood release and it wont release
what is someones idea on getting this open without breaking anything is this maybe a stretched release cable as the lever still seems to have spring tension

Not sure on the 95, but earlier trucks could access the bolts holding the hood latch thru the grill. Its been a very long time since I did this. Iirc, you need a 1/4" ratchet,6" extension, u-joint, and 10mm socket.

My credo
Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
One thing to try- get a helper to push down, or sit their ass on the front of the hood while you pull the release.

What's the worst that could happen?
On my 94, I can access the cable under the dash with a pair of pliers or needle nose. You may be able to access the latch with a long screw driver....

personally, I like RobbieD's suggestion

i have had someone push down and sit on it and it didnt seem to work
i will try and maybe wiggle a screw triver in there and or use pliers to pull the cable caus its possibly stretched

I know on 4th gens if they don’t have the plastic baffle in the grill you can reach through the grill and trip the latch. It’s a pain.

I’m also moving this to a more appropriate section…

I don't remember if it was on my '97 Ranger or F350 but one of those I had sticking latch issues and had to push a rod or hook into the latch area to push on what the cable pulls on, I think I had the grille out at the time somehow... I've been trying to remember which it was but probably the Ranger after the rear ending incident
