Nokian tires are made in Finland and Russia. Hmmm... not China. Interesting.

I found out today that a 2006 Silverado 2500HD has exactly the tire size that I've been considering (245/75r16). It of course has E rated tires but based on this alone, I believe this tire size will not be disappearing on me like the one for my '93 2wd. I was even able to see the 245's in person and can say with certainty that they won't look stupid, without a side by side I couldn't really see an obvious difference compared to the 31's. They appeared a bit narrower, but remained proportionally pleasing to the eye

D/E load rated tires are going to be very stiff. I don't know if I'd run them on a Ranger, try to stick with C if at all possible... or a P rated tire as opposed to an LT.

I think for general offroad use, dirt roads and such, highway tires are fine. I ran Peerless cheapo street tires on my truck for a few years and have some Hercules Terra Tracs on it now... I can't tell much of a difference and the latter is more of an AT.

I did actually have some of those Michellin LTXs on my old 2wd truck and swapped them out for BFG KO all terrains. That was a HUGE improvement especially in snow.
