Hi All,

I have a 1991 Ranger Supercab with 3.0.
I'm looking to replace the alternator with one of a higher amp/voltage.

I'm wanting to do some modern technology in it.
Since my local auto parts store only carries the standard 75 Amp, I'm looking for reputable online vendors.
Just the names will work, no need for posting links.

I think your year has options. Look in the technical article section. There is a link to company that sells them there.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
We have an article around here that talks about the various alternators and easy upgrades to 130amp. I just checked the tech library and can't find it. I need to get someone to fix a couple links.

Will the 96-03 130 amp work on a 96 2.3? I pulled my dump trailer to the compost over the weekend and hooked up jumper cables from battery to battery and it still barley went up. Usually the trailer is charged by the solar maintainer but it was not this time for whatever reason.

If you can get it mounted, it should work electrically.

I would be checking the condition of the trailer battery first. How old is it? How well does it hold a charge? Take it off the charger. One hour later, check the voltage. Next day, check the voltage, next day check voltage. If it is decreasing appreciably, the battery is bad and connecting it to the alternatormay not help enough to overcome the bad battery.
