This question has been asked out here a million ties but none of the answers help me make a positive ID. My truck seems 'lifted' from the factory. It has blocks between the rear axle and leaf spring but they look like any other OEM install. It also seems to be running struts up front - no coil springs and the adjustable strut post that pokes through the top of the fender well.

I want to swap out the OEM shocks for Bilstein. Is there anything definitive I can point to and say, "yeah, it has high ride" or "no, it doesn't". My avatar has a pic of the truck. You can see how high it sits right from the factory. It begs the question, "high or not".

This pic is representative of my truck's ride height:

Thanks in advance for any feedback. Cold air pack questions start after shock replacement.

can you post some pics of those front "struts"? and the rest of your front suspension?
also the frame section between the control arms.
do you have big bars, about 1-1/4" running from the lower control arms back to the frame? 'bout 3 feet long?

It has the bars. I'll put some pics up tomorrow when there's light. No coils up front. Leaf in the rear.

Thanks for the response.

that's what I thought.
your model Ranger, even though it's a 2WD, is built on a 4WD chassis so it has the ride height of a 4WD Ranger.
many thousands of them were built from 1998 to the end of production in 2011.
Rangers of that era, 1998+, that have coil spring front suspension are about 2" lower.
when ordering suspension parts be sure to specify torsion bar for the front.

Thank you for that. I did see that someplace else and doubted it. You're a second source. Problem is, different places refer to it in different ways. No prob. I know what to look for now. Thanks again. Pics tomorrow, unless you don't need them anymore.

BTW, this is good: "Beware the Main Stream Media, the "Stream" is a warm yellow liquid. guess who it's pointed at :shok:". Bravo. It could be brown too.

I'll take that as a compliment? Thank you.

I asked a Ford rep when the Ranger would receive the raptor package. She said they're working on it. Have yet to see one and can only imagine. Might be something to keep your ear to the ground about.

Later.

Thanks for the info. Interesting read. Bookmarked. Someone needs help with their suspension. Later.
