When I come to a stop with my truck in neutral or in gear with the clutch in it idles at about 2300rpm for 5-10 seconds then drops down to 1k. Is this normal? If not how to I fix it? 1998 3.0 4x4 5 speed

I poop in the furnace.
Yes it's normal-ish. The idle shouldn't drop to normal until the truck is at or near a complete stop. While coasting the idle stays higher for emissions reasons. However, both those numbers are a tad on the high side so you may have a small vacuum leak as well.
